THE PROBLEM

Why your Reels get muted and your Shorts get copyright claims

Popular songs are licensed for personal use only. Post one from a business or creator account and the platform mutes it, blocks it, claims it, or flags it later.

🔇

"This sound isn't available"

Trending audio is greyed out for business accounts. The song everyone else is using is exactly the one you can't touch.

⚠️

Muted after posting

A copyright match can silence a Reel that already has views, put a Content ID claim on a Short, or take down a video that was doing well for your shop, studio or client.

🗂️

Stock music sounds like stock music

Royalty-free libraries mean a subscription, hours of searching, and a track that was never made for your clip, then trimming it to fit.

HOW THE AI MUSIC GENERATOR WORKS

Your video is the brief. The music is original.

ReelMusic is an AI music generator app for iPhone, but you never write a prompt. It watches the clip and composes an original background track from scratch for it, so there is no rights holder who can mute or claim it. No browsing, no licenses to read.

What does royalty-free music mean here, and why can't it be claimed?

Royalty-free means you never pay per play or per post: one licence, then use the track as often as you like. Most "copyright-free" or "no copyright" music is exactly that, a library track with a licence attached, and the library can still claim it. A ReelMusic track goes further. Content ID systems mute videos by matching audio against catalogs of registered recordings. A ReelMusic track has never existed before you made it, so there is nothing to match and no label, publisher or library that could claim it.

FAQ

Questions creators and business owners ask before their first track

Full details in the Terms. Something missing? Write to us.

Why is my Instagram Reel muted on a business account?

Instagram and Facebook business accounts are not licensed for most popular songs. When a business account posts a Reel with a commercial track, Meta mutes the audio or blocks the post. Creator and business accounts are limited to the royalty-free Sound Collection – or music they have the rights to, like a ReelMusic track.

Is ReelMusic a free AI music generator?

ReelMusic is free to download and try on iPhone. Tracks made on the free plan are for private, non-commercial use and for evaluating the app. A paid plan, a subscription or a credit pack, unlocks the commercial licence that covers business and creator accounts, ads and client work.

Is ReelMusic music really cleared for commercial use?

Yes, on a paid plan. Every track is composed from scratch for your video, so there is no label or library that can mute it. Paid-plan tracks carry a perpetual commercial license for ads, client work and any business or creator account.

Is this copyright-free or "no copyright" music?

"Copyright-free" and "no copyright music" are search terms, not licences: almost everything offered under those labels is royalty-free library music with a licence attached, and the library can still claim it. A ReelMusic track is original and composed for your video, so no label, library or catalog can claim it, and on a paid plan the licence covers commercial use. Our explainer on royalty-free vs. copyright-free music sets out what each label really allows.

Will I get a copyright claim on YouTube?

Content ID works by matching your audio against catalogs of registered recordings. A ReelMusic track has never existed before you made it, so there is no registered recording for it to match. On a paid plan, monetized videos are covered by the licence, including ad revenue, creator-fund payouts and sponsorships. Automated systems can occasionally raise a false claim; if that happens, ReelMusic provides documentation of the generation and licence so you can dispute it.

Do I need to write a prompt or know anything about music?

No. ReelMusic watches your video and works out the mood, pace and rhythm itself. You can steer the vibe with one tap, but the default already fits your clip.

How long does it take?

Analysis takes a few seconds, composing usually around a minute. Exporting to Photos is instant and keeps your original resolution.

How long can the video be?

Up to 180 seconds, picked straight from your Photos library. That covers Reels, TikToks, Shorts and most product or explainer clips, and the track is composed to the clip's length.

Does the music fit the length of my video?

Yes. Tracks are composed to your clip's length. You can shift the music, add fades and balance it against the original sound before exporting.

Which platforms can I post to?

Anywhere. ReelMusic exports a normal video file with the music mixed in, so it works on Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn, ads and websites.

Can I use a track from the free plan on my business account?

No. Free-plan tracks are for private, non-commercial use and evaluation only. Tracks generated on a paid plan come with a worldwide, perpetual commercial license that covers business, brand and creator accounts, paid promotion and client work.

Can I use ReelMusic tracks for client work?

Yes. Agencies, freelancers and social-media managers can pass the license on to a client, as long as the track stays embedded in the video produced for that client. Handing over the bare audio file for the client's unrelated future use requires a separate license.

Can I sell the music or release it on Spotify?

No. Tracks may only be used inside your own videos and productions. Selling them, adding them to a music library, sample pack or beat store, or releasing them as standalone songs on streaming services is not allowed.

Can I use the music in TV, radio or cinema ads?

No. The license covers online use: social media, paid social and display ads, websites, shops, presentations and events. Linear TV, radio and cinema advertising (including connected-TV) are excluded.

Do I own the track exclusively?

The license is non-exclusive. AI-generated tracks are not unique, so similar tracks can be generated for other users. You must not register a track with Content ID, GEMA or similar systems, or claim exclusive rights in it.

Do I have to label the video as AI-generated?

Where the law or the platform requires it, yes — that is your responsibility. Any watermarks or content credentials embedded in a track must stay intact. You also may not present a track as made or endorsed by a real artist.

What if a platform still flags my video?

Tracks are created not to reproduce existing recordings, but automated systems can occasionally raise a false claim. In that case ReelMusic provides documentation of the generation and license to help you dispute it.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

"I built ReelMusic after watching small businesses get letters from law firms for a 15-second Reel. They had picked a song straight from Instagram's own library and were asked for thousands of euros in damages. You shot the clip, you know your customers. The soundtrack should be the easy part, not a legal risk. Pick a video, tap once, post it."

In Germany, law firms acting for record labels send warning letters (Abmahnungen) to companies that used songs from the Instagram or TikTok library on a business account. The platform license covers private use only. Claims often reach several thousand euros — one firm demanded €9,000 in damages plus legal fees for a single Reel. WBS Legal · Händlerbund · ZDF
